World Body Painting Festival 2009 Winners

The World Body Painting Festival 2009 was held in Seeboden, Austria. The city has hosted this colourful event since 1998. The "World Body painting Festival" is the biggest art event in the body painting theme and thousands of visitors admire the wonderful work of the participants. This year the event was held from 13 - 19 July 2009. It is under the purview of World Body Painting Association or W.B.P.A. So the event just concluded last month. Here are some of the winners:

Body Painting In Asia - II

The pics were taken at The 8th International Ceramics Exposition and World Ceramics Purchasing Fair. It was held in Zibo, a city in Shandong Province, China from September 16 - 20, 2008. Like my previous blog, China is now a different place and new to us nowadays. There will be classes being held during the festival also. Run by WBF Academy. They will have classes from 13 - 17 July 2009. More than 30 different workshop classes with the world's best artists. The workshop classes are organised into small groups for intensive learning experience. Demonstration program will be held in the culture hall. The Origins of Modern Nudism

When you mention German nudes, Dürer’s portraits of Rubenesque women lounging au natural rather than naked hiking comes to mind. The Brucke art movement, a Pre-World War I group of German Expressionists, were also avid nudists — using the freeing of their bodies to also free their art. These artists in turn were the first creatives to be banned under the Nazi regime — seen as part of the “decay” of authority and German power. During the Nazi era, the concept of nude sunbathing to fortify one’s soul was dismissed as frivolous, which perhaps may be the reason it enjoyed such popularity in the postwar period — especially in East Berlin, where for many it was seen as the one public activity the government had no authority over.
